Ok MOMS! Listen up! After a baby turns 1 there is NO LONGER any need to say their age in months. How old is your baby? he's 1! Period. If you say, for instance 21 months, that means I have to do math. I don't want to do math! An Acceptable answer would be 1, or Almost 2! When I have kids (if I ever do) then I will not succumb to the months of baby age. They do it all the way up until 2! I'm like 23 months? OK he's fucking 2! MOMS always do this, but now men are too! Yesterday I saw a SUPER sad site I saw a MAN with the GAYEST diaper bag I've ever seen! it was pink & every other color on earth! It was also PLEATHER! This dude was carrying it LIKE a purse because he had to attend to his munchkins running around the store & such. Poor guy. Remember the good ol' days of getting your ass spanked in the store by your mom? Those days have gone away. Why? I chalk it up to my generation and their continued pussification. Now if you don't spank your kids, im not I'm smack to you, but I know that I got whoopins on the regular and I turned out fine. There is a BIG difference between spanking your kids & beating them. BIG DIFFERENCE! Another thing to blame is teachers. That's right, teachers. They give out Social services number in class. YEAH! id be mad as HELL at that teacher! They took away my upper hand, and Ill be damned if my 3rd grader calls social services on me for spanking him. The kids use it as a threat! Another thing too, is that the number 1 preferred method of discipline is time outs. Son go to your room and think about what you did with your PS3,XBOX, iPod, computer with internet, stereo, LCD TV, etc. That's not a punishment! Its a recreational hr! Now I know A LOT of moms read my blog. I'm in no way shape or form talking about your parenting styles! If you don't want to spank your kids, COOL! I'm not a dad, so honestly I don't have MUCH of a say, but when I am a dad my kids are getting whoopins...I know that's the case.

Our son pulled that abuse shit once when he got spanked. He threatened to call the cops and turn me in for abuse. I told him pick up that phone and i'll show you what abuse is buddy.
Never pulled that shit again.
NICE smack down, thats what ya need!
See, I'm torn on this. Being a kid who was spanked, I understand how totally well behaved I was as a child (and that was because we had the fear of God put into us if we disobeyed) so we know that works, but I think it teaches kids to be afraid of you which will bite you when they're teenagers. Then, I also think that hitting someone teaches them it's ok to hit others and violence begets violence and we probably souldn't do that. Not to say that a swat on the hand once in a while is not appropriate.
But then I look at ineffective parents who constantly try to negotiate with their kids "Please say you're sorry. If you dont' say you're sorry I'm going to be upset. You might get a time out. Please say you're sorry" etc. and I think that's obviously not working becuase it gives the kid all of the control. I'd be one of those parents who asked you to apologize, you refuse and I say "OK then you can go to bed" because I don't negotiate. I think the time out works if it's not in the room with the Xbox or the PS3, but like...your time out will be spent standing in a corner doing nothing, but it has to be paired with other punishments like having to go to bed early, or having to give up a toy for a week, or something like that.
But you're right, there are some seriously sucky parents out there.
Becky, thx for your input. I too was spanked! The fear of the parents was legit, me & my bro were great teens. No drugs, I didnt drink till 21, we made it easy for the parents. Mine did a good job, w good discipline!
I've never really thought about the whole age by months thing until you mentioned it. But I totally agree, 23 months is 2 years old don't make me do the math! It makes you sound all high and mighty. I'll make sure not to do that, I don't want to be "that" person. Oh I was also spanked when I was a kid. All my mom had to say was you just wait til your dad gets home and that was it! I was a snotty teenager for a bit too, I slammed my door all the time and one day my dad came and ripped the door off the hinges and said I didn't deserve a door. I never slammed the door again. My family still makes jokes about that.
i am so with you on this. my favorite by far.
Praise the Lord BG! I am also not yet a parent but I can PROMISE you a few things: my kids will NOT have a cell phone at age 10, my kids will NOT have ANY game systems without first doing a report about their options and why they want the one they want, my kids will have daily chores, and my kids will not eat shit 27/7!! As a former nanny (4+ years) I can promise AT LEAST those things. And no, my position will not change "once I have kids".
